Probiotics; more than bacteria in capsules

What is prebiotics and probiotics?

Probiotics are living bacteria that naturally occur in our digestive system (mouth, stomach, intestines). There they help our body digest food. Probiotics comes from Greek and roughly translated means 'for life'. Probiotics ensure that we have and maintain good intestinal flora. You could consider them as indispensable cleaners and guardians of our intestines. Healthy intestinal flora is important for normal digestion and bowel movements .

Prebiotics (inulin or fos) are indigestible dietary fibers that serve as food for beneficial bacteria in the gut, supporting the health of the gut microbiome.

What forms of probiotics (bacteria) are there?

The beneficial probiotic bacteria are naturally found in probiotic foods such as yogurt, sauerkraut and kefir. There are also many good probiotics available in supplement form. Which one is most suitable for you depends on various factors. There are various probiotic products as nutritional supplements for specific groups, such as probiotics for babies , probiotics for children or probiotics for pregnancy . Probiotics are available in many different forms. Think of probiotic (chewable) tablets, probiotic capsules and pro powder.

What do different bacterial strains say about probiotics?

Scientific research shows that a probiotic product with multiple strains is more effective than a product with only one strain. Each intestinal flora is unique, but the bacteria in a good probiotic supplement usually correspond to the most important bacterial strains that occur in large numbers in the human intestine. Consider probiotic strains, such as Lactobacillus acidophilus, lactobacillus rhamnosus gg, Bifidobacterium lactis, bifidobacterium longum and Lactobacillus rhamnosus. These are by far the most well-known 'super strains' that have been extensively researched and described in scientific studies and publications. All Golden Naturals probiotic products are composed of multiple strains including the superior strains mentioned above.

Golden Naturals has probiotics with no fewer than 100 billion bacteria. These probiotics contain both pre and probiotics and even contain 24 different strains!

Useful cofactors in a probiotic treatment

Various useful cofactors have been added to Golden Naturals probiotic products. One of these is prebiotic (inulin). Prebiotics are broken down by the bacteria in the large intestine, this process is called fermentation. In fact, prebiotics serve as food for those bacteria. In particular, the growth of lactobacilli and bifidobacteria in the intestine is stimulated and they have a better chance of survival. We call the combination of pre- and probiotics synbiotics. To support the immune system, our probiotic products also contain vitamin C and vitamin A, which is good for the mucous membranes.

Ginger for digestion and intestinal flora

Golden Naturals has added ginger to all probiotics. Ginger is a valuable addition to living microorganisms because of its known positive effects on intestinal function. This powerful root contributes to healthy bowel movements and promotes efficient digestion, making it an excellent ally in supporting the gut microbiome and overall well-being.

What is the best probiotic?

The best probiotics are those that arrive unscathed at their destination where they can do their work. Probiotics are living entities, so how do you prevent the good bacteria from all dying in our stomach acid before they reach the intestines? We have thought of that! All Golden Naturals probiotic products come in easy-to-use, gastro-resistant capsules. This means that the active ingredients are not affected by stomach acid and arrive undamaged at their destination: the intestines.

Do probiotics have side effects?

There are no known unwanted side effects of probiotics. However, mild side effects can occur when taking probiotics. This may include abdominal pain, diarrhea or bloating. Naturally, we do our utmost to inform you as completely as possible about the contents and effects of all our Golden Naturals products. Unfortunately, we cannot provide (complete) information about all uses and possible side effects of probiotic capsules.
