What is collagen?

Collagen is a protein found in many tissues of the body, including skin, bone, and cartilage. It is the most abundant protein in the human body. Collagen accounts for 30% of our total protein mass. Collagen helps maintain the firmness and elasticity of the skin. As we age, starting at age 25, the body’s natural production of collagen changes. The effectiveness of topical collagen products, such as creams and lotions, in supporting collagen levels in the skin is limited because the collagen molecule is too large to be easily absorbed by the skin.



Collagen & Hyaluronic Acid contains vitamin C which contributes to the formation of collagen to strengthen the skin from within.



Collagen comes in different types. The most common types are type I, II and III, but there are over 28 different types of collagen in total.



In Collagen & Hyaluronic Acid, collagen type I from Peptan® fish collagen hydrolyzate and collagen type I and V from Ovomet® eggshell membrane were selected.



Peptan®

Peptan® is one of the most well-known brands on the market for collagen. It offers different types of hydrolyzed collagen, from different sources. Hydrolysis means that the long collagen chains are broken down into smaller peptide chains, making the collagen easier to digest and absorb. In our product, fish collagen was chosen, because fish is one of the best sources of type I collagen.

What is Hyaluronic Acid?

Hyaluronic acid is a glycosaminoglycan, a type of molecule that occurs naturally in our bodies. It can hold large amounts of water, which helps hydrate the skin.

The combination of collagen and hyaluronic acid in skin care products is a common combination. In the product Collagen & Hyaluronic Acid, these two ingredients are combined with other functional vitamins and herbs (extracts). 

Why is there vitamin C in this supplement?

Vitamin C plays an important role in the body's natural production of collagen. Collagen helps maintain skin firmness. Vitamin C is an antioxidant that helps protect the skin from pollution, sunlight, external influences and oxidative damage.

Collagen & Hyaluronic Acid: a mix of various ingredients

This supplement has a composition with a mix of various vitamins and herbs (extracts). Biotin, vitamin B8, is a well-known vitamin that is often used for the skin. It nourishes the skin from within and thus ensures the maintenance of healthy and normal skin. The ingredients selenium, vitamin C, vitamin E and zinc have an antioxidant effect. Zinc also supports the skin's ability to recover. The connective tissue in the skin is supported by grape seed extract, also known as Vitis vinifera*. This extract also nourishes and protects the skin*. In addition, Collagen & Hyaluronic Acid contains important bioactive substances such as L-cysteine, astaxanthin, organic silicon, corn beard and saffron extract.
